  Mainly because the little boys at Mozilla will probably never grow up, and will probably continue to be their own worst enemy until the day they finally manage to turn Firefox into another Netscape, I have dumped all of my Firefox add-on development, and decided to port some of it to work as Facebook apps. • 3.2 Bumped for Firefox 5.0

  For those of you who have upgraded to Firefox 5.0, maxVersion of Crosswords 3.2 has been bumped to 5.0.*. This means that Crosswords 3.2 will work with Firefox 5.0. • Crosswords for Firefox 3.1

  A few days ago I made version 3.1 of Crosswords for Firefox available. The only change in version 3.1 was that maxVersion was bumped to 4.0b2, so that those using Firefox 4.0b2 can still use the Crosswords add-on. I have just updated version 3.1 with another bump of maxVersion. i.e. Crosswords for Firefox will now work with Firefox 4.0b2 or Firefox 4.0b3. The latest update of 3.1 also includes a little fix. 3.1 was reporting the incorrect version number. i.e. It was reporting 3.0 rather than 3.1. • Crosswords for Firefox 3.0

  I have just put version 3.0 online and it’s available in the usual place – http://www.wizzcomputers.com/crosswords.php The main change in 3.0 is that it can deal with both 13 x 13 and 15 x 15 crosswords (Older versions can only deal with 13 x 13). I have also added 333 15 x 15 crosswords to the database. Version of Crosswords for Firefox, prior to 3.0, will only be served 13 x 13 crosswords from the database. If you want to be able to do 13 x 13 and 15 x 15 crosswords, you have to upgrade to 3.0. • Two instructional Wink “videos” created

  To better explain the installation and use of Crosswords for Firefox, I have created two instructional videos. They aren’t real videos, but rather Flash presentations created using Wink – I’ll just refer to them as videos The first video covers detailed instructions for installing Crosswords for Firefox. Hopefully this will aid those who aren’t familiar with Firefox, or who aren’t familiar with installing Firefox add-ons. The second video covers detailed instructions for using Crosswords for Firefox. • Crosswords version 2.6 is available

  I have just put version 2.6 online, and it’s available in the usual place: – http://www.wizzcomputers.com/crosswords.php A number of changes have been made to 2.6, all of which will be documented in this blog post. Changes: - 1. A Facebook button, that will open the Crosswords Facebook page on the current Firefox tab, was added. This is so that people can easily keep up to date with various pieces of information posted on the Crosswords Facebook page. 2. A Solution button was added. The Solution button will open the Crosswords solution page on the current Firefox tab, and the solution for the currently selected crossword will be displayed. 3. Added access keys to all elements where it makes sense to have an access key. e.g. The access key for the Save Button is S (The S is underlined on the Save Button), so pressing Alt + S will do the same thing as clicking the button. Look for the underlined letters, and you’ll know what the access keys are. 4. Fixed two little bugs. The bugs were related to clicking the Blog button when the main Firefox window was closed. 5. • Crosswords version 2.5 is available

  I have just put version 2.5 online, and it’s available in the usual place: – http://www.wizzcomputers.com/crosswords.php It seems that some people were having difficulty finding Crosswords in the Firefox Tools menu, so I have added a shortcut key combination, which I hope will make everyone’s life a little easier. The shortcut key combination is Alt + Shift + X – i.e. Hold down the Alt key and the Shift key, and then press X. For those of you using Macs, press Option + Shift + X - 2 years ago

• Crosswords has over 600 Facebook fans

  Considering that most Facebook groups and pages have thousands of fans, I guess that having just over 600 fans is no big deal. Well, regardless of how many fans other Facebook groups and pages may have, I think it’s quite an achievement for Crosswords to have accumulated 614 fans I’ve added loads of new crosswords to the database over the last few days. For many months there were only 111 crosswords were available, but as of 26 February, the available crossword count jumped to 458. I’ll be adding many more new crosswords over the next few days. - 2 years ago
